ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020-$2,130
  • Location: South Boston, VA
  • Healthcare Setting: On-site Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Nursing Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Assignment Duration: Approximately 52 weeks
  • Start Date: August 25, 2026
  • End Date: August 25, 2027
  • Schedule Requirement: At least one shift per month to remain active in the per diem pool
  • Orientation: Weekday availability required
  • Candidate Requirement: Local candidates only

ICU RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • At least 2 years of professional Registered Nurse experience
  • At least 1 recent year of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or critical care nursing experience
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage complex patient conditions
  • Availability to complete weekday orientation
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and meet the minimum monthly scheduling requirement

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit
  • Perform focused nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and promptly identify changes in condition
  • Administer medications and treatments according to established plans of care
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes
  • Manage complex clinical needs while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and quality of care
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
  • Educate patients and families as appropriate and provide compassionate support throughout care
