ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

  • Location: South Boston, VA
  • Healthcare Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Schedule: Per diem night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
  • Shift Duration: 12 hours
  • Order Hours: 36 hours per week when fully scheduled
  • Minimum Availability: At least 1 shift per month
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020–$2,130
  • Assignment Term: August 26, 2026 through August 26, 2027
  • Orientation: Weekday availability during the same week as the start date is required
  • Candidate Eligibility: Local clinicians only

ICU RN Job Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
  • At least 2 years of professional Registered Nurse experience
  • At least 1 recent year of experience working in an Intensive Care Unit or critical care setting
  • Ability to provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients
  • Availability to complete required weekday orientation
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, patient assessment, and teamwork skills

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit during 12-hour night shifts
  • Assess patient conditions, identify changes in status, and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Administer medications and treatments safely according to established protocols
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, laboratory results, and other indicators of patient condition
  • Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Support patients and families through complex and critical-care situations
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and quality-focused patient care environment
