Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for a travel ICU nursing job in Odessa, Texas. This role is ideal for an RN with critical care or high-acuity progressive care experience who is confident managing telemetry, PCU, and ICU patients. You’ll support a newly opened progressive care unit with anticipated ICU-level patients while delivering high-quality care across a broad range of cardiac, medical, and critical care diagnoses.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required; critical care or high-acuity stepdown experience strongly preferred
• Active Registered Nurse license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC or TCAR required within 30 days of start
• Experience with Cerner preferred
• Strong background in telemetry, progressive care, or ICU patient management
• Comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patients with varied acuity levels
• Willingness to float between ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg/Tele as needed based on census
• Flu vaccination required; medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality bedside care to patients in ICU, PCU, telemetry, and Med-Surg settings
• Monitor and manage patients with diagnoses such as Afib RVR, TAVR, post-PCI, DKA, COPD/asthma exacerbations, renal failure, and ventilated patients
• Deliver care for patients requiring arterial line management, cardiac drip titration, insulin drips, and continuous bedside monitoring
• Support safe patient ratios and adapt to changing unit needs, including floating when census is low
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response, and more
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow established clinical protocols and unit standards
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and assist with rapid response/code situations as needed
• Contribute to a supportive, team-oriented environment focused on safe, compassionate patient care
