Travel nursing opportunity for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse in a high-acuity Cardio Thoracic ICU in Chesapeake, VA. Join a collaborative critical care team caring for complex cardiac, thoracic, and step-down patients in Coastal Virginia.

• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 3x12s or 4x12s; every other weekend, holidays, and floating required
• Shifts Per Week: 3 or 4, depending on schedule selection
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Setting: Adult Cardiac ICU with universal bed model and step-down patients
• Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 2:1
• Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320

Job Requirements

• Active Virginia RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of experience in CVICU, CTICU, or cardiac critical care nursing
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Strong neuro critical care experience, including post-brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy experience
• Experience with cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, ventilator management, and advanced monitoring systems
• Must be able to pass compliance screening, including EKG testing and fit testing requirements
• Applicants must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• No prior license or background hits accepted

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for post-operative cardiac and thoracic patients, including CABG, STEMI, NSTEMI, and CHF cases
• Care for both ICU and step-down patients within a universal bed model environment
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, insulin protocols, and continuous IV sedation as ordered
• Support ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, suctioning, and ABG interpretation
• Monitor and respond to dysrhythmias, neurological changes, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Assist with advanced cardiac devices and therapies such as IABP, Impella, Swan Ganz, and CVVHD/CRRT
• Maintain infection prevention standards, isolation precautions, and safe wound/drain care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient-centered care
