ICU Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Night Shift Contract in Middletown, Ohio
Experienced ICU Registered Nurse needed for a high-acuity travel nursing contract in Middletown, Ohio. ICU Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,860–$1,960
- Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Nursing
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nurse contract

- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; typically three 12-hour shifts
- Shift: Night shift, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Unit: 26-bed critical care environment with an average daily census of approximately 24 patients
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratios: Target ratio of 1:2 for critical care patients and 1:3 for intermediate-level patients
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Weekend coverage is required; travelers should be available to work every other holiday
- Orientation: 48 hours
- Floating: Flexibility to float to medically appropriate units or nearby locations based on patient census and staffing needs
ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or an active compact RN license
- At least 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Recent experience with open-heart and post-cardiac surgery patients, including CABG and valve procedures
- Experience managing Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
- Strong dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation skills; successful completion of an EKG/telemetry competency assessment is required
- Epic inpatient charting experience required
- Clinical proficiency with ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, vasoactive infusions, CRRT, chest tubes, and complex cardiac monitoring
- Willingness to float as needed and work assigned weekends and holidays
ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Care for patients with cardiac conditions, post-operative cardiac surgery needs, respiratory illness, stroke, infection, renal failure, hemodynamic instability, and multisystem complications
- Monitor and manage ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow oxygen, chest tubes, drains, arterial lines, central lines, and advanced hemodynamic equipment
- Care for patients requiring Impella support, IABP therapy, CRRT, hypothermia protocols, and continuous IV sedation
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips while assessing patient response and maintaining safe critical care practices
- Interpret EKGs, dysrhythmias, arterial blood gases, and other clinical data to identify changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, and procedural sedation according to established standards
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, IV services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
- Support a patient-centered care environment while maintaining clear communication with patients and families
