Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Dayton, Ohio Travel Nursing Contract, Night Shift
Experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN) needed for a 13-week travel nursing contract in Dayton, Ohio. Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,860–$1,960
- Location: Dayton, Ohio
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 18, 2027
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Shifts per Week: Four 12-hour shifts
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Unit: High-acuity Neuro ICU and surgical/medical ICU overflow
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Floating: Must be comfortable floating to medically appropriate assignments at nearby campuses within the Dayton area
- Time Off: Requested time off must be submitted with the initial application; up to 14 days may be allowed per contract
Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience, or 2 years of comprehensive stroke center experience with significant Neuro ICU experience
- At least 2 years of professional registered nursing experience
- Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent Epic inpatient charting experience required
- Strong dysrhythmia recognition skills, including the ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Experience caring for high-acuity neurological and critically ill patients
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Willingness to float without restrictions based on patient acuity, census, and clinical competency
Neurocritical Care RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients experiencing ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, encephalopathy, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other complex neurological disorders
- Monitor and manage patients with respiratory failure, renal or liver failure, pulmonary embolus, endocarditis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Provide care for ventilated patients and manage BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, continuous sedation, vasoactive drips, cardiac drips, and IV insulin protocols
- Monitor and manage external ventricular drains, intracranial pressure, subdural drains, lumbar drains, arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, EEG monitoring, BIS, and Train-of-Four equipment
- Perform or assist with neurological assessments, post-neurosurgical care, stroke interventions, seizure management, and recovery following surgical procedures
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in neurological status, cardiac rhythm, respiratory function, and hemodynamic stability
- Administer blood products, manage acute and chronic renal failure, maintain infection-prevention practices, and provide safe isolation and PPE practices
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response, IV teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Float to medically appropriate assignments and support nursing teams across nearby units when required
