ICU Registered Nurse Travel Assignment – Cardiovascular/Neuro ICU in Alexandria, VA
Join a fast-paced Cardiovascular/Neuro ICU team in Alexandria, Virginia, a vibrant Northern Virginia community just outside Washington, D.C. This 13-week travel RN assignment is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to care for high-acuity patients in a highly collaborative critical care environment where your expertise will make a meaningful impact every shift.

- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Shift Pattern: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Floating: First to float; may float to MSICU and PCCU and care for boarders up to four patients
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,830 - $1,930
- Unit Details: 16 beds; 1:2 patient ratio
- Additional Requirement: ECG exam on day 2 (pass/fail)
- Scrub Color: Navy blue
- Holiday Commitment: 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year
Job Requirements
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
- BLS and ACLS required
- Strong experience managing critically ill neuro and cardiovascular patients
- Ability to interpret and monitor cardiac rhythms independently
- Comfortable with ventilator support, high-flow nasal cannula, and noninvasive ventilation
- Experience titrating vasoactive drips preferred
- Epic experience required
- Ability to adapt quickly in a high-acuity travel nurse setting
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, evidence-based care to ICU patients with complex neurological, cardiac, respiratory, and metabolic conditions
- Monitor and titrate drips such as norepinephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, phenylephrine, and dopamine as ordered
- Assess patients for changes in condition and respond quickly to evolving clinical needs
- Manage care for patients with diagnoses including stroke, hemorrhage, sepsis, ARDS, COPD exacerbation, heart failure, AKI, DKA, and other critical illnesses
- Read and interpret cardiac strips independently
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, techs, and the interdisciplinary care team to support optimal patient outcomes
- Float as needed to support MSICU, PCCU, and boarder patients
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold high standards of patient safety and quality care
