Travel to Alexandria, Virginia for a high-acuity ICU Registered Nurse assignment in a CV Neuro ICU.   • Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
  • Weekly Hours: 36
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: First to float; may float to MSICU, PCCU, and care for boarders up to four
  • Holiday Requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year
  • Additional Requirement: Must pass ECG exam on day 2 (pass/fail)
  • Charting: Epic experience required
  • Scrubs: Navy blue

Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license and current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing or critical care experience required
  • Strong experience caring for neuro, cardiovascular, and critical care patients
  • Ability to independently interpret telemetry strips
  • Comfort managing titratable vasopressor drips and complex critical care therapies
  • Experience with ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and noninvasive ventilation preferred
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday rotation as scheduled
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled bedside nursing care in a 16-bed CV Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
  • Assess, monitor, and intervene for patients with stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, respiratory failure, sepsis, heart failure, DKA, GI bleed, and other critical diagnoses
  • Manage and titrate vasoactive medications including norepinephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, phenylephrine, and dopamine
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, effective, patient-centered care
  • Perform ongoing neurological and hemodynamic assessments in a high-acuity critical care setting
  • Support patient stabilization, treatment planning, and timely escalation of care when needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and communicate clearly with the care team
  • Adapt quickly to floating needs while maintaining high standards of clinical care
