Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift: Nights and Every Other Weekend | Hours: 36 hours/week

Unit Description

This position involves floating throughout various medical-surgical telemetry units, providing care across multiple areas within the healthcare facility.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and assess telemetry data.
  • Administer and manage cardiac drips.
  • Interpret telemetry strips every four hours.
  • Provide care for ED border patients and manage medication in acute mental health scenarios.
  • Support the care for non-vented patients who are transfer-ready in the ICU.

Experience Required

Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience, inclusive of 2 years working as a Traveler.

Skills Required

  • Telemetry monitoring, including measuring intervals and interpreting strips.
  • Experience with TR Band.
  • Ability to perform cardiac drips.

Patient Demographics

Cares for a diverse patient population including those in emergency departments and acute mental health units.

Patient Ratios

Clinician to patient ratios are up to 5:1 during days and evenings, and up to 6:1 during nights.

Rotations

Involves rotating between day, evening, and night shifts, typically 1 to 3 nights per contract.

Technology Used

Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system utilized: EPIC.

Required Certifications

  • Active RN License in Massachusetts
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
