Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) will provide essential patient care across multiple Med/Surg Tele units within the hospital, ensuring high-quality clinical services are delivered to a diverse patient population. This role requires flexibility as the nurse will float between various designated units, participating in the care of patients with a variety of medical needs.

Unit Overview

The Float Pool RN will work in several areas of the hospital including but not limited to:

• Davenport 5
• Davenport 7
• Davenport 8
• Davenport 9
• Emergency Department (ED)
• PH6/7
• Pingree 4
• Overflow Units

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac patients, including telemetry monitoring and interpreting telemetry strips every 4 hours.
• Administer cardiac drips as per protocol.
• Provide care for patients transitioning from ICU and manage medications in the acute mental health unit.
• Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and provide comprehensive nursing assessments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience.
• 2 years of experience as a Traveler in nursing roles.
• Active RN licensure in Massachusetts.
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.

Patient Population

The RN will care for patients of various acuity levels, which include:

• Emergency Department border patients.
• Acute mental health unit patients.
• Non-ventilated patients prepared for transfer from the ICU.

Work Environment

The facility is equipped with 371 beds, and the clinician-to-patient ratio is up to 5:1 during the day shift and up to 6:1 during night shifts.

• Shifts include Days & Evenings with potential rotations to Nights.
• Utilizes EPIC for electronic medical records (EMR) and charting.
