Travel Nurse RN - Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma in San Antonio, TX

Contract | 13 Weeks | Mid Shift (3:00 PM – 3:00 AM) | Onsite | Expected start date: September 22, 2026 | Must pick up 4 weekend shifts per month

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to an acute adult emergency department population in an 86-bed ED, maintaining acuity-based patient ratios (typically 4:1)
• Perform and assist with a broad range of emergency procedures including airway management, vascular access, trauma resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, and neurological emergency response
• Administer medications including IV push, continuous infusions, blood products, procedural sedation agents, thrombolytics, and vasopressors per protocol
• Conduct triage assessments, prioritize patient flow, and coordinate trauma activations including massive transfusion protocols and Level II Trauma Center procedures
• Activate and manage stroke alerts (NIHSS assessments), STEMI protocols, and sepsis alerts; participate in code blue and post-cardiac arrest care
• Document accurately using Meditech EMR and adhere to unit dress code (navy blue scrubs)

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Texas (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department nursing experience with expertise in caring for an acute patient population
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR
• Required certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS, TNCC, ENPC, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and CPI
• Strong communication skills and a positive, high-energy, can-do attitude

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Trauma center experience (Level I or Level II preferred)
• Experience with advanced trauma procedures including amputation management, crush injury management, and advanced burn stabilization
• Familiarity with pediatric emergency procedures including Broselow tape utilization and neonatal stabilization
