Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department serving a broad patient population ranging from newborns to the elderly, including minor to critically ill presentations
- Manage and titrate a wide variety of drips including vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications
- Recognize and respond to life-threatening cardiac rhythms; interpret monitor strips using Philips monitoring equipment
- Perform and assist with lab draws alongside ED techs; collaborate with respiratory therapy on ventilator and airway equipment as needed
- Care for stabilized trauma patients transferred from the trauma bay to a pod setting; work within a team-based model supported by charge nurses and a 24/7 house supervisor
- Adhere to facility dress code and maintain compliance with a drug-free campus policy
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- ENPC or PALS certification required
- TNCC or TNS certification required
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 prior travel assignment
- SANE RN experience preferred
- Experience working in a teaching hospital with resident physicians preferred
- Proficiency with vasopressor drip titration and management of critically ill ED patients
