Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department serving patients ranging from newborns to elderly with a wide variety of complaints, from minor to critically ill
- Manage and titrate a variety of drips including vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications
- Recognize and respond to life-threatening cardiac rhythms; interpret monitor readings using Philips monitoring equipment
- Draw labs and perform general nursing skills in collaboration with ED techs and interdisciplinary team members
- Care for stabilized trauma patients transferred from the trauma bay to a pod setting; primary trauma bay assignment is not expected for travelers
- Adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- ENPC or PALS certification required
- TNCC or TNS certification required
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 prior travel assignment
- SANE RN experience
- Experience working in a teaching hospital with residents
- Proficiency with vasopressor drip titration and management of critically ill patients
