Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts | Onsite | Every other weekend and every other holiday required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in Emergency Room/ED settings across multiple facilities within a regional float zone covering up to a 60-mile radius
- Manage a patient load of 1:4–5 based on acuity, treating common diagnoses including abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
- Independently read and interpret telemetry monitoring; no monitor technician on unit
- Perform and document Point of Care lab testing following facility training
- Administer standard emergency medications and drips; collaborate with RT (available 24/7) for respiratory equipment management
- Maintain required certifications (ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC) throughout the duration of the contract
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in the state of Kansas
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
- Ability and willingness to float throughout the full regional zone (up to 60-mile radius from zone center) for each scheduled assignment
- Must be present in-state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Must not miss more than 3 shifts during a 13-week contract; a 2-week notice is required to avoid back-out penalty
- Must live at least 60 miles from the zone center city to be eligible; valid driver's license must be submitted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience, particularly in float or multi-site roles
- Experience in emergency settings managing STEMI, stroke, and trauma send-out protocols
- Comfort working in varied ER environments with differing volumes (6–49 patients per day) and facility sizes
- Ability to adapt quickly to different unit workflows, team structures, and equipment
