Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery / Postpartum
Job Summary
Join a dedicated nursing team at a Critical Access Hospital in Viroqua, Wisconsin, providing comprehensive care across the peripartum continuum. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, compassionate nursing care to expectant mothers, laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and their newborns.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing patient care from admission through discharge, encompassing labor support, delivery assistance, immediate postpartum recovery, and comprehensive mother-baby couplet care. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RN to contribute to a close-knit community hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to laboring patients, including continuous fetal monitoring, pain management, and assisting with vaginal and C-section deliveries.
- Assess, monitor, and care for postpartum mothers, managing recovery, pain, and potential complications.
- Educate new mothers on postpartum self-care, newborn care, breastfeeding, and infant safety.
- Perform comprehensive newborn assessments, provide routine newborn care, and monitor for signs of distress or complications.
- Administer medications safely and accurately, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records and other necessary documentation.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies with calm and decisive action, ensuring patient and infant safety.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother/Baby care.
- Ability to work effectively in a Critical Access Hospital setting.
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to Viroqua, Wisconsin.
