Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the dynamic Emergency Department at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. The unit is a comprehensive 64-bed facility, including dedicated areas for triage, acute care, super track, trauma, clinical decision unit (CDU), and psychiatric patients.

The Emergency Department provides critical care to a diverse patient population, ranging from newborns and pediatrics to adults and geriatrics, presenting with a wide array of conditions including stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure. Nurses in this role are expected to manage complex cases and provide rapid, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

This is a 16-week contract position, open to both travel and local candidates, requiring commitment to PM shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to a diverse patient population across all age groups (newborn to geriatric) within the Emergency Department.
  • Conduct rapid and thorough assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement evidence-based interventions for patients presenting with acute and critical conditions such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
  • Administer a broad spectrum of medications, including vasoactive drips, anti-arrhythmics, sedatives, and other critical care pharmaceuticals.
  • Operate and monitor specialized emergency equipment, including Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun devices.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records using the EPIC system.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to float to other units as patient census or facility needs dictate.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with pediatric patients within an ED environment.
  • Prior travel nursing experience (required for travel candidates).
  • Valid Driver's License (required for travel candidates).
  • Ability to work in Utica, New York.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Charge Nurse experience.
