Job Summary
Join the dynamic Emergency Department team at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This 64-bed unit, comprising 2 Triage, 40 acute, 6 super track, 2 Trauma, 10 CDU, and 6 psychiatric beds, provides comprehensive care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to geriatrics. The unit manages a wide array of critical conditions including stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
This role demands a highly skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, proficiency in managing complex medical emergencies, and the ability to provide compassionate care across all age groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, assessment, and intervention for emergent and critical conditions in the Emergency Department.
- Manage a diverse patient population, including newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Respond to and manage high-acuity cases such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
- Administer a wide range of critical medications and titratable drips, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Operate and monitor specialized emergency equipment.
- Float to other units as required by departmental needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, acute care experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
- Demonstrated experience providing care to pediatric patients.
- Prior travel nursing experience is required.
- Proficiency with Epic EMR system.

- **Clinical Expertise:** Advanced assessment, critical thinking, and intervention skills for emergent conditions including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and traumatic emergencies.
- **Patient Care:** Ability to provide comprehensive care for newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
- **Equipment Proficiency:** Experience with Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
- **Medication Management:** Expertise in administering and titrating critical medications including Pressors (Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine), Vasodilators (Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG), Anti-arrhythmics (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lido), Sedation (Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl), TNK, Heparin, and Insulin.
- **Soft Skills:** Exceptional communication, teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in high-stress, rapidly changing environments.
