Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ER RN) for a 13-week contract assignment in Rome, New York. This role offers an opportunity to provide critical care in a fast-paced, 14-bed emergency unit, serving a diverse patient population requiring immediate medical attention.
The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, intervention, and stabilization, working collaboratively within a dynamic healthcare team. Patient ratios typically range from 4-5 patients per nurse, ensuring focused and effective care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to individuals presenting to the Emergency Department with a wide range of acute and critical conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, implement interventions, and continuously evaluate patient outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
- Operate and monitor various medical equipment essential for emergency care, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and ventilators.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of all patient care activities in the electronic medical record system.
- Respond rapidly and effectively to changes in patient condition and emergency situations, demonstrating strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of recent, acute care experience in an Emergency Department setting.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.

- Clinical Skills: Expert-level emergency assessment and intervention, critical care management, trauma care, cardiac monitoring, wound care, medication administration, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and airway management.
- Equipment: Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, specifically D T systems and Pyxis. Familiarity with emergency medical equipment including defibrillators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and ventilators.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to perform effectively under pressure, adaptability, teamwork, empathy, and patient advocacy.
