Job Summary

This assignment is based at the main hospital in Oswego, a facility committed to delivering high-quality patient services across a wide range of specialties, including urgent care, cardiology, oncology, and primary care.
As an Emergency Department Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, providing immediate and expert care to patients presenting with diverse medical emergencies. This position requires a compassionate and skilled professional capable of managing acute situations, performing rapid assessments, and collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, for patients in the Emergency Department.
- Triage patients effectively based on acuity and presenting symptoms, initiating appropriate interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, monitoring for efficacy and adverse reactions.
- Operate and monitor medical equipment relevant to emergency care.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
- Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Respond rapidly and effectively to emergent situations and codes.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced environment in Oswego, New York.
