Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evenings Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: WA or Compact License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC Must-Have: Will consider a traveler with 1 year of experience in a larger trauma setting. Description: This position is in an emergency room setting with a total of 56 beds and the capacity to accommodate additional beds. There are 6 fast track beds and a separate triage area with 5 beds. Travelers can take a triage test to be assigned to triage roles, although generally, department staff handle this. 18 designated beds are available for holding inpatients awaiting placement. ER RNs are responsible for managing their own ER holds, but inpatient RNs may float to assist. There are separate psychiatric seclusion rooms in a locked area with 6 private treatment rooms. In-house security is available. The department typically sees between 170 to 200 patients per day. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 for high acuity patients and 1:4 for lower acuity. Patients commonly present with cardiac events, strokes, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, respiratory issues, and abdominal pain. The use of Epic for charting is standard in this unit. Monitor technicians are present, and RNs read strips. Transport for imaging studies is facilitated by a nearby radiology department. Primarily, nurses or ED technicians perform blood draws, with lab assistance available for more challenging cases. The department requires weekend availability every other week and holiday work for the peak seasons. No call or standby requirement is present, though extra shifts may be available. Scrub color must adhere to professional standards. No requests for time off will be considered during the first full week of a traveler's assignment. The cancellation policy allows for the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
