Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active IL license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: - Required certifications - General nursing skills - Preference for candidates with at least 1 prior travel assignment - SANE RN experience preferred - Experience in a teaching hospital preferred Description: The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room will care for a diverse range of patients, including newborns to the elderly. The focus will include treating minor complaints to critically ill patients. The nurse will handle situations such as cardiac arrests, strokes, and heart attacks regularly. Care for Level 1/2 trauma patients occurs in a specialized trauma bay. Travelers may care for trauma patients after stabilization, but primary care in the trauma bay is unlikely. Candidates must possess proficiency in titrating various drips, including vasopressors and cardiac medications. The nurse will work closely with a trauma team and be involved in critical patient care as required. There will be a minimum of three attending physicians present at all times, with a house supervisor available 24/7. Nurses will need to interpret rhythms, as they are responsible for their own patient monitoring using Phillips monitors. ED techs will assist with patient care, maintaining a 1:9 ratio. Nursing and tech personnel will draw labs as needed. Scheduling will include 12-hour shifts with every other weekend required. Holiday work will be necessary based on department needs and may be negotiable. This position does not require on-call duties, but floating to other units may occur infrequently. Scrub colors should be tasteful and consist of solid-colored shirts worn underneath.
