Job Title: Registered Nurse - ER Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience required License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI or MOAB Must-Have: General nursing knowledge Emergency Department experience Ventilator management Critical care drips and titration Cardiac rhythm interpretation Measuring cardiac strips Managing drains and chest tubes Handling hemodynamic lines: Arterial lines/CVP Stroke experience (TPA administration) Conscious sedation Assisting with splinting Description: This position requires a registered nurse with Emergency Department experience. Travelers must have been separated from permanent staff for one year if previously employed. Patient types include infants and end-of-life care, covering all acuity levels. The unit handles a diverse range of cases, including STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, and stroke interventions. The nurse will manage patients with respiratory failure, renal failure, COVID, alcohol use disorder, and GI illnesses. Patient ratios are typically 1:3-4 or 1:5 in fast-track areas. The nurse is required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance before arrival. Support on the unit includes a charge nurse who may take a patient assignment. Phlebotomy services are available in-house, and respiratory therapy is also available 24/7. There is a hospitalist available around the clock for patient care needs. The EMR used is Meditech Expanse, with Alaris for IV pumps and Pyxis for medication dispensing. Weekend rotation is every other week, with mandatory scheduling of four days one week and three days the next week. Requests for time off can be made for up to seven days, with specific guidelines regarding weekends and holidays. Work requirements include being flexible with holiday scheduling, as working during major holidays is expected. Professionalism is essential on the unit, with specific attire guidelines outlined.
