Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12H Evenings Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 5+ years in an Emergency Room setting, with at least 1 travel assignment License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: - MEDITECH experience - TNCC certification - Understanding of a diverse patient population, including pediatric to geriatric patients Description: The emergency room provides care for a high volume of patients, averaging 180-200 visits per day. The unit features 6 beds dedicated to behavioral health with staff trained in managing psychiatric patients. Charge nurses and nurse aides are present to support the nursing staff, with 5-6 aides per shift. Central monitoring technology is available, allowing for comprehensive patient surveillance. Nurses manage their own IVs, with a dedicated respiratory therapist available 24/7. The team includes various providers with overlapping shifts to ensure continuous care. Nurses are required to complete required training during the first week of assignment. Caribbean blue scrubs are the designated uniform for this position. Weekend and holiday shifts are required on an alternating basis. Common diagnoses include trauma, neurological conditions, and orthopedic injuries. The facility is a designated stroke center and provides stabilization of some trauma cases before transfer. Patient safety is emphasized with security personnel and safety sitters available as needed.
