Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience required License: RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC preferred Description: RN - Emergency Department position available. The facility has 337 licensed beds and is a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The Emergency Department consists of 43 beds, with 8 Clinical Decision beds. There are 4 additional beds used for administrative purposes or to hold patients. The average daily census is approximately 145 patients. The department manages a general ED population, including trauma stabilization, respiratory illness, strokes, acute MI, and uncontrollable diabetes. Patient demographics range from pediatrics to geriatrics. The admission rate is around 25-30%. Patient ratios are RN: 1:3-4, depending on acuity. Certified Nursing Assistants serve as Unit Coordinators and assist RNs with patient care. Required skills for RNs include cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with critical care drips. RNs should also be proficient in PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation. Support within the department includes dedicated staff such as charge nurses, patient safety attendants, and social workers. The department utilizes advanced technology and equipment, including electronic medical records and various monitoring systems.
