Job Title: RN - Emergency Department Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of ED experience License: RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC preferred Must-Have: General ED skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation Description: The Emergency Department is seeking a registered nurse to join our team. This unit operates with 43 beds and includes clinical decision beds and behavioral health support. The average census is 145 patients per day. Patient types include the general ED population, trauma stabilization, respiratory illness, stroke, behavioral health issues, acute myocardial infarction, uncontrollable diabetes, and minor trauma. We serve patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric ages. The admission rate varies, and patient ratios are RN to patient 1:3-4, based on acuity. Certified nursing assistants will support the unit and assist with patient care. Required skills include the ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and administer critical care drips. Nursing support is available, including unit secretaries, a charge nurse, dedicated social workers, and 24/7 respiratory therapists. EMR utilized is EPIC, along with various medical equipment such as IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and patient monitoring systems. Traveling may be required to other facilities within the region based on operational needs. On the schedule, weekend rotations every other weekend are expected. Additionally, travelers are expected to work approximately 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays, with provisions for contract extensions if necessary. Culture within the unit is welcoming, busy, and supportive.
