The facility has 207 licensed beds. It does not have a trauma designation and is not a teaching hospital. The facility is a chest pain center and a stroke center. The role requires a Registered Nurse with experience in a medical telemetry setting. This unit typically has 31 beds with a variety of patient diagnoses. Common diagnoses include end-stage renal disease, fluid overload, sickle cell disease, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health issues. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6, with surge ratios of 1:7-8. Staff support includes Certified Nursing Assistants and a receptionist/health unit coordinator. Phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws is also part of the support system. There may be a charge nurse who may or may not have patients. A resource nurse is available based on staffing needs. The role includes floating within the scope of practice as needed to other units. Telemetry monitoring technology is not provided on-site. The electronic medical record system used is Epic. IV pumps are Alaris, and medication dispensing is managed via Omnicell. Monitors used are Philips. Weekend rotations will occur every other weekend. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off must be managed according to guidelines. The schedule will be reviewed every six weeks. Scrubs are to be navy.
