Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. The candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, particularly for admitted patients. This role requires the ability to work during the holiday season, specifically two out of three holiday bundles: Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in medication administration, including IV medications, adhering to the seven medication rights.
  • Document and communicate clinical findings effectively to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage patient flow, especially during peak admission times.
  • Provide care in a fast-paced environment, handling approximately 60%-80% of admitted patients.
  • Fulfill floating responsibilities as needed, which may include floating to Pediatric Emergency Department or Adult Patient Care Units.
  • Maintain compliance with facility protocols and policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; strong preference for candidates with Level 1 Trauma experience.
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC must be completed prior to submission).
  • Experience in emergency care and travel nursing is preferred; however, candidates with 2+ years of Level 1 experience may be considered without travel experience.
  • No local candidates will be accepted within a 100-mile radius.
  • COVID vaccine is optional; candidates must report vaccine status.
  • Pending New Mexico nursing license is acceptable at the time of submission.

Work Schedule

This position involves 36 or 48-hour shifts, with the 48-hour option reserved for those with both Level 1 and travel experience. Weekend shifts will be scheduled as needed, and the traveler may be called off up to three times during the 13-week assignment.

Additional Information

We follow strict policies regarding overtime, which applies after 48 hours for contracts signed on or after a specified date. New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks, and travelers are required to observe a 6-month break after four consecutive assignments or reaching their one-year mark.
