Emergency Room Nurse

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Emergency Room Nurse in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will join a dedicated team providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population, including pediatric and geriatric patients. This role involves handling emergency situations effectively while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in an emergency room setting.
• Conduct patient assessments and implement appropriate intervention techniques.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations with speed and competence.
• Document patient care and progress in the electronic medical record (EMR) system using Meditech 6.15.
• Oversee the care provided by nursing aides and paramedics, ensuring quality and adherence to protocols.
• Participate in patient education and communication regarding health management and discharge planning.
• Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations within the emergency room.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in an emergency room setting.
• Completion of at least 1 travel nursing assignment.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS.
• Proficient in Meditech EMR system.
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Shift Information

• 12-hour shifts, 7 AM to 7 PM.
• Every other weekend and holiday required.

Work Environment

The emergency center handles approximately 180-200 patient visits per day and is equipped with a behavioral lockdown area. The facility has a dedicated respiratory therapy team available 24/7, and patients requiring admission will be monitored until transfer to appropriate units.

• Orientation covers 2 shifts tailored to department-specific procedures.
• All travelers must adhere to the auto lunch deduction policy.
• Employees are required to wear Caribbean blue scrubs while on duty.
