Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency nursing and be skilled in providing high-quality patient care.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Time: 3 PM to 3 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER)
• Patient Volume: Approximately 180-200 visits per day
• Patient Ratios: 1 RN to 4 patients
• Behavioral Health Unit: 6-bed locked area staffed by psychiatric personnel
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Pediatric to geriatric patients, trauma, neurological emergencies, and orthopedic cases
• Certification Required: TNCC, ACLS, BLS, PALS, ASLS or NIHSS, CPI

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the emergency setting.
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and progress.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Administer medications, intravenous therapy, and other treatments as necessary.
• Facilitate patient admissions and transfers to other units as required.
• Participate in departmental meetings and continuing education programs.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ER nursing experience with at least 1 travel assignment.
• Certifications: Must possess current ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, ASLS or NIHSS, and CPI certifications.
• Software Proficiency: Must have experience with Meditech 6.15 EMR.
• Travel Requirements: Must reside within a 75-mile radius.

Additional Information

• Orientation: 2 shifts specific to the emergency department.
• All travelers must adhere to call-out procedures and complete orientation within the first week; extensions are subject to approval.
• Scrub color is Caribbean Blue.
• 24/7 support from Respiratory Therapy for vent management.
• Nursing staff will be responsible for lab draws and initiating IVs.
