Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Shift Details

Shift: 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM. Please note that block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Unit Overview

The Emergency Department is equipped with 64 beds, including:

  • 2 Triage
  • 40 Acute
  • 6 Super Track
  • 2 Trauma
  • 10 Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)
  • 6 Psychiatric

Patient Demographics

The department serves a diverse patient population, including:

  • Newborns
  • Pediatrics
  • Adults
  • Geriatrics

Common Diagnoses

Common patient diagnoses in the Emergency Department include:

  • Stroke
  • Sepsis
  • Trauma
  • Myocardial Infarction (MI)
  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Respiratory Failure

Specialty Equipment

Familiarity with specialty equipment is required, including:

  • Rapid Infusor
  • Arctic Sun

Skills & Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Up-to-date resume documenting at least 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department, including some pediatric experience.
  • Required certifications: AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC.
  • Active NY Nursing License, verified through NURSYS Report.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically EPIC.
  • Charge capability is highly preferred.
  • Floating between units is required.

Required Medications & Drips

Knowledge of required drips and medications, including but not limited to:

  • Pressors: Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine
  • Vasodilators: Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG
  • Anti-arrhythmics: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lidocaine
  • Sedatives: Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, TNK, Heparin, Insulin

Candidates should be proficient in high-paced environments and possess strong critical thinking skills to effectively manage patient care in an emergency setting.
