Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be adept at handling a variety of critical situations and providing high-quality care to patients across all age groups.

Job Description

The Emergency Department is a fast-paced environment where RNs play a crucial role in patient assessment, triage, and care. Candidates must possess the ability to manage complex cases, work collaboratively with the healthcare team, and demonstrate exceptional communication skills.

Unit Specifics

  • Common Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction (MI), Cardiac Arrest, Respiratory Failure
  • Specialty Equipment: Rapid Infusor, Arctic Sun
  • Patient Population: Newborns, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatric
  • Number of Beds: 64 beds total, including 2 Triage, 40 Acute, 6 Super Track, 2 Trauma, 10 Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), and 6 Psych

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting, including pediatric experience.
  • Travel experience is required.
  • Current certifications: AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC.
  • Active New York State nursing license with a valid NURSYS report.
  • Experience with EPIC EMR is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the emergency department.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patient conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Manage and monitor patients requiring drips and medications including, but not limited to:
    • Pressors: Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine
    • Vasodilators: Cleviprex, Cardene, Nitrogycerin (NTG)
    • Anti-arrhythmics: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lidocaine
    • Sedation: Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, TNK, Heparin, Insulin
  • Participate in routine unit duties and uphold the safety and quality standards of care.
  • Floating to different areas within the department may be required.
