Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in emergency nursing, including care for pediatric patients.

Shift Details

  • Shift: 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM
  • Floating may be required
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Unit Information

The Emergency Department has a total of 64 beds, including:

  • 2 Triage beds
  • 40 Acute Care beds
  • 6 Super Track beds
  • 2 Trauma beds
  • 10 Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) beds
  • 6 Psychiatric beds

Common patient diagnoses include:

  • Stroke
  • Sepsis
  • Trauma
  • Myocardial Infarction (MI)
  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Respiratory Failure

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Emergency Nursing, including pediatric experience.
  • Current certifications: AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC.
  • Active New York state nursing license (verification through NURSYS).
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC.
  • Ability to document travel experience.

Specialty Equipment

Familiarity with the following equipment is preferred:

  • Rapid Infusor
  • Arctic Sun

Medications and Drips

Experience with administering the following medications is required:

  • Pressors: Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine
  • Vasodilators: Cleviprex, Cardene, Nitroglycerin (NTG)
  • Anti-arrhythmic: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lidocaine
  • Sedation: Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl
  • Thrombolytics: TNK
  • Anticoagulants: Heparin and Insulin

Additional Requirements

Must include requests for time off (RTO) at the time of submission.
