Emergency Department Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment
Join a busy Level 2 Trauma Emergency Department providing comprehensive emergency care, including STEMI and stroke services. This 44-bed ED sees approximately 100–105 patients per day and offers a strong multidisciplinary support team.
Position Details
- Department: Emergency Department
- Trauma Level: Level 2
- Beds: 44 total — 4 adult trauma bays and 1 pediatric trauma bay
- Patient Volume: Approximately 100–105 patients/day
- Typical Ratio: 1:4, with flexibility up to 1:6 in Psych/Fast Track
- Pediatric Patients: Approximately 10%
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent ER experience; travel experience preferred
Patient Population
Common presentations include:
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
- Abdominal and back pain
- Cough/respiratory complaints
- Alcohol detox
- Psychiatric emergencies
- Pediatric emergencies
- Trauma and other acute medical conditions
Department Features & Support
- 11 Fast Track beds
- Dedicated locked psychiatric/seclusion area with 10 video-monitored rooms
- ER holds managed within the department; travelers are expected to take holds
- 24/7 in-house security
- At least 2 ED physicians plus mid-level providers
- Tech support throughout zones
- Approximately 1 tech per 2 nurses
- Paramedics available for additional support
- Sitters for psychiatric patients
- Dedicated EKG technicians
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy
- CT and X-ray located adjacent to the ER
- Central monitoring at the charge nurse desk and monitors throughout patient-care zones
- Nurses interpret their own telemetry strips
- Nurses draw labs when starting IVs; techs assist with lines, urine collection, and Foley placement
- Critical drips are managed in the department

Schedule
- 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- 1:00 PM – 1:00 AM
- Arrive approximately 15 minutes before shift
- Self-scheduling available
- Block scheduling is not permitted
- Every other weekend:
- Days: Saturday–Sunday
- Nights: Friday–Saturday
- Rotating holidays required
