Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled Emergency Department Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics in a Level III trauma center.

Contract Details

• 15-week contract for holiday coverage
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume Emergency Department
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC certifications are required
• Experience with triage is essential; must pass the hospital’s Triage Test before allowed to triage
• Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred
• Experience with barcode scanning medication administration, managing medication drips, blood product administration, and Point of Care Labs is a plus

Skills and Responsibilities

• Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines
• Assist with trauma and code cases
• Splinting and use of BiPAP/ventilation
• Good understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI)
• Manage high-acuity pediatric patients as well as conditions including stroke, cardiac emergencies, and behavioral health issues
• Stabilization and transfer of patients to specialized care when necessary

Patient Care Environment

• Work in a busy Emergency Department with patient ratios of 1:3-5 based on acuity
• ED configuration includes zones, with a fast track area consisting of 13 beds
• Average patient volume of 200-250 patients per day

Technology

• Familiarity with Epic EMR is required

Shift Information

• Shifts include days, mids, evenings, and nights with varying start times

Attire

• Scrub color: Any, no logos permitted
