Job Details:

• 12-hour evening and night shifts with the possibility to work a day shift if needed
• Available shift times include: 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM, 9:00 AM–9:00 PM, 10:00 AM–10:00 PM, 11:00 AM–11:00 PM, 3:00 PM–3:00 AM, 5:00 PM–5:00 AM, and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call requirement; occasional standby possible if low census occurs prior to shift start
• Work in a 38-bed combined Emergency and Urgent Care unit with 5 trauma bays and resuscitation rooms
• Adult and Pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center; STEMI receiving and Stroke Center
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in the ER and 1:6 in Urgent Care
• Expected to triage patients arriving by ambulance and walk-in patients
• ER holds are intermixed within the department; 4 dedicated psych rooms available within the department
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, sepsis, syncope, elevated heart rate, headache, and suicidal ideation
• Common drips include heparin, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nicardipine, and norepinephrine
• RNs are responsible for drawing labs; expected to monitor patient rhythms using GE monitors throughout the department
• Both X-ray and CT available within the department
• RT available 24/7 in-house; RNs expected to troubleshoot RT equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen
• Floating may occur only for patient sitter or helping hands roles; will not be required to take a full patient team on another unit
• Scrubs: any solid color, clean and professional
• Orientation consists of three days: Day 1 is computer-based training and department orientation; Days 2 and 3 are on-unit orientation with an RN preceptor
• Charting system: Cerner; prior Cerner experience ideal
• Pediatric experience required; Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience preferred; minimum 2 years of ER experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS (AHA), TNCC; ENPC encouraged but not required
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility

Facility:

This facility is an Adult and Pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center operating as both a STEMI receiving center and a Stroke Center. The combined Emergency and Urgent Care department features 38 beds and 5 trauma bays and resuscitation rooms, treating between 140 and 180 patients per day. The department is supported by ED physicians, mid-level providers including PACs and NPs, a charge nurse, and a House Supervisor available 24/7. Additional support staff includes HUCs, patient care technicians, and on-staff paramedics who assist with medication administration, patient discharge, and procedural tasks.
