Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room

Position Description:

This role involves working in a high-acuity unit where Registered Nurses (RNs) will provide care to patients with a variety of critical conditions, including strokes, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health concerns, and sepsis cases. While there may be some trauma cases, this unit is not designated for trauma care.

Shift Details:

  • Shift: Nights (7PM - 7AM)
  • Start Date: ASAP

Required Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • BLS certification via AHA
  • ACLS certification via AHA
  • PALS certification via AHA
  • TNCC certification
  • De-Escalation certification
  • RN License in the state of employment or compact

Responsibilities:

  • Meet expectations of the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to the level of practice.
  • Administer medications and treatments, and monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

  • One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.

Position Requirements:

  • All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
  • New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member and must complete organization-specific competency validations.
  • Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.

  • 7PM - 7AM

General Comments:

The patient population in this unit involves very high acuity cases, including a significant number of chronic and acute health conditions. Security is onsite 24/7. There is potential for temp-to-perm opportunities.
