Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license accepted
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association
  • TNCC certification
  • Strong Level I trauma experience
  • Telemetry and medication drip experience
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records
  • ESI triage training preferred
  • CPI Blue certification; may be obtained on site
  • Ability to work scheduled night shifts and required weekends

ER Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based emergency nursing care to patients presenting with emergent and complex conditions
  • Assess, prioritize, and stabilize patients using emergency nursing standards and established triage processes
  • Care for patients with acute stroke, seizures, congestive heart failure, sepsis, acute myocardial infarction, trauma, and diabetes-related conditions
  • Support the management of neuro-medicine and neurosurgical patient populations, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage
  • Monitor telemetry patients and safely administer and titrate medication drips according to orders and protocol
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and collaborate promptly with the interdisciplinary care team
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in EPIC
  • Deliver compassionate care to patients and families during urgent and high-stress situations
