Position Overview
This position involves working in a busy Emergency Center, providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment. The role includes direct patient care, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and effective communication with patients and families.

Unit Information
- Type of Unit: Emergency Room
- Average Patients per Day: Approximately 180-200 visits
- Staffing Ratios: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Behavioral Health: Includes a 6-bed behavioral lock-down area staffed by psychiatric professionals
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Pediatric to geriatric patients, trauma (with some neuro and ortho cases) and CVA center.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing assessments and care to patients in the Emergency Center.
- Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, and other team members.
- Perform lab draws and initiate IV therapy within established protocols.
- Manage patient care with the support of designated aides, paramedics, and security staff.
- Complete required training and orientation during the first week of employment.
- Participate in patient safety initiatives and adhere to facility's policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an emergency room setting, including at least 1 travel assignment.
- Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS or ASLS.
- Experience with Meditech EMR is a must.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients and families.
- Flexibility to accommodate weekend and holiday shifts as needed.
Additional Information
- All travelers must adhere to a 75-mile radius rule, and a valid driver's license must be provided for verification.
- Orientation consists of 2 shifts specific to the unit's protocols.
- The emergency room has a dedicated 24/7 respiratory team and pharmacy available on campus for immediate support.
