Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Description

Join a dynamic Emergency Department team that provides high-quality patient care. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment.

Unit Information

Location: Corpus Christi, TX

Unit Details

  • Number of Beds: 16 with 8 hall chairs
  • Staffing: 6-7 staff members per shift
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4 for low acuity patients; may take up to 6
  • Type of Equipment: Cardiac Monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HP’s, Tonopen, and more
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech, with vital signs flowing into the chart

Shift Composition

  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4-5 nurses (including one mid-shift), 1 ultrasound tech, and 1-2 technicians
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4-5 nurses (including one mid-shift), 1 ultrasound tech (7 pm - until midnight), and 1 technician

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will possess the following:

  • Level II or Level III trauma experience
  • Certifications: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, BLS

Additional preferred qualifications include:

  • CEN or TCRN certification
  • Greater than two years of experience in an Emergency Department

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Patient assessments and documentation
  • Medication administration and wound care
  • Splinting and IV insertion
  • Urine collection and lab draws
  • Caring for patients classified as ESI 5 through 1

Dress Code

Scrub Color: Royal Blue preferred, with an option to incorporate Sunday seasonal team spirit (e.g., wearing team jerseys).

Unit Policies

  • Mandatory shift huddles at 7:00 am and 7:00 pm
  • EMTALA training is required for all staff
