Overview

This Emergency Room Registered Nurse position is designed for a confident travel nurse with strong clinical judgment, experience caring for patients across the lifespan, and the ability to perform in a high-volume ED. You will join a collaborative healthcare team using Epic while supporting a wide range of emergency, trauma, and stroke-related patient needs in Central Virginia.

• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Hours per Week: 36 hours, with the option to work 48 hours in some scheduling scenarios
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
• Start Date: 9/28/2026
• Weekend Requirement: Required
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Unit Environment: High-volume emergency department with strong trauma and stroke capabilities

Job Requirements

• Current RN license; pending state license may be accepted if active before the start date
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• At least 1 year of Level I trauma experience or 2 years of Level II trauma experience required
• Experience caring for pediatric patients required
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC required
• TNCC may be pending at submission but must be completed before start
• Epic experience required
• Strong triage, trauma, and emergency care skills
• BSN preferred
• Valid references and required credentialing documentation

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate emergency nursing care in a busy emergency department
• Assess, triage, and stabilize patients with urgent and emergent conditions
• Care for trauma, stroke, chest pain, and other high-acuity presentations
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support quality patient outcomes
• Provide nursing care for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Epic EMR
• Adapt to changing patient volumes and staffing needs while maintaining excellent care standards
• Follow unit policies for weekend coverage, holiday rotation, and floating within scope of practice
