Emergency Department Travel RN (Registered Nurse) – Level I Trauma | Charlottesville, Virginia
Join a high-acuity Emergency Department as a travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Charlottesville, Virginia. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers $1,800–$1,890 in estimated weekly pay, 12-hour night shifts, and the opportunity to care for adolescents, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients in a Level I trauma environment with comprehensive stroke and STEMI care. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 26, 2026; additional start dates may be available
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Shifts per Week: 3 shifts
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Schedule: Night shifts with variable scheduled days based on staffing needs; weekends required
- Holiday Coverage: Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 4–5 patients per nurse
- Electronic Health Record: Epic
Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of Emergency Department Registered Nurse experience
- At least 1 year of Level I trauma experience or 2 years of Level II trauma experience
- Experience caring for pediatric patients; dedicated pediatric emergency department experience is not required
- Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia, or a pending Virginia RN license that will be active by the required deadline before the assignment begins
- Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications; TNCC may be pending but must be completed before the assignment starts
- Experience using Epic electronic health records
- Strong emergency assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills
- BSN preferred
- Ability to provide professional references and complete required compliance documentation
- Flexibility to float within the Registered Nurse scope of practice as needed
Emergency Department Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, timely, and compassionate emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan
- Perform focused assessments, triage, reassessments, and ongoing monitoring for patients with varying levels of acuity
- Care for patients experiencing trauma, stroke, chest pain, STEMI, and other emergent conditions
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate providers
- Administer medications and treatments, initiate emergency interventions, and support resuscitation efforts within scope of practice
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and other interdisciplinary team members
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Epic
- Support patient and family education, care coordination, and safe transitions from the Emergency Department
