Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position will be focused on providing high-quality care in a fast-paced, community hospital setting.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an Emergency Department
- Acceptance of first-time travelers
- Local candidates are welcome, with a rate difference applicable
- Proficient in IV start, triage, telemetry, conscious sedation, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and procedural sedation administration
- Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, NIH, PALS, and MOAB (MOAB class will be provided)
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Experience with critical care patients, trauma, triage, and boarding inpatients
- Preferred certifications: ENPC and TNCC
Job Details
- Target nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4; assignments may vary based on patient acuity
- 36 hours per week will be offered
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Requests for time off (RTO) are limited to a maximum of 7 days for Aya Auto Offer
- No float requirements
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
Patient Care and Unit Information
- Stroke certified, administering t-Pa and TNK, transferring patients to appropriate facilities as necessary
- Chest pain certified, accepting only walk-in STEMI patients for intervention transfer
- No trauma services or dialysis services; both require transfer
- Pediatric admissions are not accepted; all pediatric cases must be transferred
- Provides care across the entire age spectrum
- Staffed by RNs, CNAs, MURs, and Paramedics alongside ED MDs and MLPs
- Dedicated charge nurse is available 24/7
- Possibility of overcapacity in-house; ED MSU boarding may occur
- Onsite intervention by a cath lab is available
- Paramedics are part of the department
Special Equipment and Systems
- Utilizes Alaris IV pumps for medication administration
- Medication and lab specimen scanning through Pyxis and EPIC systems
Orientation and Scheduling
- Orientation consists of 2 shifts of 12 hours on the unit, with initial hospital orientation during the first week (traveler must be available for classes each day)
- Scheduling type is based on unit needs
Additional Information
- Scrubs required: Navy and/or white
- EKG testing must be passed prior to starting in this specialty
