Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) RN position located in a busy urban healthcare facility. The role involves providing high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population, including infants, geriatrics, unhoused patients, and those with complex medical conditions. The RN will operate in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to stabilize and treat critical patients.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting 10/26/2026 and ending 01/23/2027.
• Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license; BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS certifications; 2+ years of ER experience, including trauma levels; valid license to practice in the state.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with critical care and emergency procedures; certified in Vistelar training.
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: All ages including infants and geriatrics, with conditions such as heart failure, GI bleeds, chest pain, sepsis, trauma, and post-transplant complications.
• Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-5; ER Tech: approximately 1:8 but variable based on census.
• Skills required: IV placement, Foley and NG tube insertion, neuro assessment (NIHSS), triage, code response, initiating/titrating pressors and cardiac drips, bedside procedures, moderate sedation.
• Support Available: 24/7 charge nurse coverage, management, ER physicians/mid-level providers, VAST team (rarely used), hospitalist, intensivist, and on-site imaging and monitoring equipment.
• Technology/Equipment: Cerner EMR (preferred), IV pumps, Phillips monitors, ultrasound, VAD equipment.
• Orientation: 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided.
• Other Notes: No floating required; scrubs in royal blue for RN, parking available free via garage access; unit in rebuilding phase with low morale, working towards stabilization.
