Unit Information:

• 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, 5 behavioral health holding beds
• Average patient census: 200-220 patients/day

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• Trauma, Stroke, STEMI, Burn, GSWs, stabbings, multi-trauma, MVC, MI, CVA, hypothermia, drownings, falls, conscious sedation, defibrillation, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, sexual assault, overdoses, psychosis, pacing, and vent management

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 6:1 based on clinical area worked or acuity
• LPN: 4:1, 5:1, 6:1 based on clinical area worked or acuity

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (Resource Team Requirements)

Skills Required:

As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. You will utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and skilled communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

• ED Tech: Assists with ADLs, vital signs, I/O cath, foley placement, phlebotomy
• Unit Secretary
• Charge Nurse
• 24/7 Critical Care Pharmacists
• Paramedic Staff
• Telemetry monitoring

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Epic
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips
• Unit specific equipment: GE Ultrasounds for point of care, GE EKG machines

Orientation:

• NEO
• 2 days departmental
