Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in cardiovascular and general surgery. The ideal candidate will be proficient in a variety of surgical specialties and demonstrate exceptional clinical skills in both circulating and scrubbing roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and effective perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of the operating room, ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterile and readily available.
  • Perform circulating and scrubbing duties for a range of surgical specialties, including but not limited to:
    • Vascular surgeries (e.g., AV fistulas, aortic surgeries, carotid procedures)
    • Orthopedic procedures (e.g., arthroscopies, total joints)
    • General surgeries (e.g., colorectal resections, liver resections, mastectomies)
    • ENT surgeries (e.g., tracheostomies, laryngectomies)
    • Urological surgeries (e.g., nephrectomies, prostatectomies)
    • Robotic-assisted surgeries (e.g., gynecological procedures, hernia repairs)
    • GYN surgeries (e.g., hysterectomies, pelvic repairs)
  • Respond to emergencies in the operating room and effectively manage surgical crises.
  • Communicate with the surgical team to ensure a collaborative and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in the state of practice or compact RN license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in a surgical specialty.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Experience in cardiovascular surgeries is a must.
  • Proficient in vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting techniques.
  • Availability for weekend shifts and on-call requirements is necessary.
  • Ability to maintain a 30-minute response time when on call.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to a rotating schedule, with shifts of three 12-hour days per week. Scheduled call duties will be included, with specific weekend requirements.

Additional Requirements

  • Must limit holiday requests to one of the three major holidays.
  • Candidates must be willing to adhere to flu shot requirements unless a documented medical exemption exists.
