CICU/CVICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CICU/CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care to adults and geriatric patients in a fast-paced cardiac intensive care unit environment. The RN will work on a rotating schedule of days and nights, with a requirement for every other weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients with conditions such as cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and heart failure.
  • Manage advanced therapy workups including LVAD and heart transplant patients.
  • Utilize specialized equipment such as Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, and monitoring devices.
  • Perform bedside procedures including central line and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, and Swan/PA catheter insertion.
  • Participate in targeted temperature management and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement therapeutic interventions and patient care plans.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding diagnosis and treatment options.
  • Maintain a safe and sterile environment while adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Float to lower acuity units as needed within the specialty.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a CVICU setting; first-time travelers with strong skills and experience will be considered.
  • CCRN certification is preferred.

Shift Details

The position involves three 12-hour shifts either during the day (07:00 - 19:00) or night (19:00 - 07:30).

Patient Demographics

This role focuses on adult and geriatric patients, with an average daily census of 10 and a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:1, or up to 3 with stable, lower acuity patients.
