Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night/Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in CVICU. License: RN license required. Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required. Must-Have: - CVICU experience is required. - Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required. - Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred. - Traveler will be required to pass Telemetry test prior to starting. Description: The position involves working day or night shifts, with 12-hour shifts scheduled every other weekend and occasional holidays. The unit specializes in the care of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplants, and cardiac medical patients. The specific patient diagnoses include CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, aortic dissection repair, LVAD, heart transplant, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, STEMI, NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, heart failure, and arrhythmia management. The nursing team is comprised of Care Team Leaders and RNs in direct patient care assignments. Patient assignments typically consist of 1-2 patients, with the possibility of 3 general care patients if acuity is low. The facility has 27 private rooms capable of ICU level care. Staff are supported by interdisciplinary teams that include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Essential skills required include managing ports, arterial lines, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, blood products, and ventilator management, among others. Staff must be adept in using special equipment such as CRRT, IABP, Impella, HM3 LVAD, and ECMO. The role requires a commitment to delivering quality care that meets patient and family needs. Nurses will participate in both planned admissions from the operating room and unplanned admissions from emergency services or referring facilities. The dynamic nature of the unit provides a stimulating environment for professional growth and patient care excellence. Travelers are required to float as needed, and local candidates are not accepted.
