Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience in a cardiac stepdown, intermediate care, telemetry, or comparable acute-care setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Demonstrated ability to care for telemetry patients and interpret cardiac rhythms
• Ability to safely titrate ordered vasoactive and cardiac medications
• Adaptability to floating as needed within the facility
• Willingness to wear royal blue scrubs; white, royal blue, or black undershirts are permitted

Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients requiring cardiac stepdown and intermediate-level monitoring
• Monitor telemetry for all assigned patients, recognize changes in cardiac rhythm, and promptly escalate concerns
• Care for patients with conditions and procedures including post-myocardial infarction sheath pulls, postoperative vascular cases, gastrointestinal bleeding, diabetic ketoacidosis, and other complex medical-surgical diagnoses
• Administer and titrate medications such as nitroglycerin, phenylephrine, and nicardipine according to orders and unit protocols
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, medication administration, patient education, care coordination, and accurate clinical documentation
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapy, patient care technicians, and the interdisciplinary team to promote safe, timely patient care
• Respond to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions within RN scope of practice
• Support a positive patient experience while maintaining high standards of safety, communication, and clinical quality
