• Additional Note: 36- or 48-hour contract options may be available depending on unit needs

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Active Virginia RN license or compact RN license required at start
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Charge nurse experience required; training and pay differential provided as applicable
• Experience with cardiac, telemetry, med-surg, neuro, and stroke patient populations preferred
• Cerner experience preferred
• Ability to work at least one major holiday during the assignment
• All requested time off must be submitted with the application packet
• Comfort working in a teaching environment with students and new hires

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown and intermediate care patients
• Care for a varied patient mix including med-surg, telemetry, cardiac IMCU, neuro, and CVA patients
• Monitor patient status, assess changes, and collaborate with the care team to promote safe outcomes
• Manage complex patient needs in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare setting
• Take on charge responsibilities when assigned and support smooth unit operations
• Work collaboratively with the care team and assist in mentoring students and new hires
• Follow clinical protocols, maintain accurate documentation, and uphold strong patient care standards
• Participate in weekend and holiday coverage as needed based on unit requirements
