Job Requirements

• Active Virginia RN license or compact RN license required at start
• Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac stepdown, intermediate care, telemetry, or a closely related acute care setting
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required and kept current
• Strong clinical background with cardiac IMCU and stepdown patient populations
• Experience with Cerner preferred
• Ability to provide a complete work history, explain gaps over 90 days, and submit requested documentation promptly
• Willingness to work at least one major holiday during the assignment

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to cardiac intermediate care and stepdown patients
• Monitor vital signs, rhythm changes, oxygen needs, and overall patient status throughout the shift
• Administer medications, maintain IV therapy, and support ongoing treatment plans
• Perform and document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Use unit equipment as needed, including glucometers, SCDs, bladder scanners, vein finders, remote telemetry systems, wound vacs, IV pumps, pulse oximeters, chest tubes, tube feeding pumps, and oxygen delivery devices
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members and contribute to a supportive learning environment
• Assist with charge responsibilities when needed, with appropriate training and differential pay provided
• Float first based on unit needs and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced hospital setting
